Manslaughter

Manslaughter

According to the Alabama Criminal Code, a person commits the crime of manslaughter when he or she:

He or she recklessly causes the death of another person, or

He causes the death of another person under circumstances that would constitute murder under Section 13A-6-2; except, that he causes the death due to a sudden heat of passion caused by provocation recognized by law and before a reasonable time for the passion to cool and for reason to reassert itself(this is your “heat of passion” defense discussed above). Manslaughter is a Class B felony with a possible sentencing range of 2-20 years in prison.

There are multiple defenses to a manslaughter charge. It is important to hire an experienced and dedicated attorney to fight for your freedom. Call Dixon Law today at 205-414-7425.
